The Astral Realm is on the continent of Australia. It is widely believed all of the modern Astrals descended from the original tribe of Wizards who immigrated to the southern continent in from the Old Country somewhere around 6500-6300 BCE. At the time, there were two small tribes of native wizards living in the central areas of the continent. These native tribes eventually merged with the newcomers to form the Astral Realm.
The Astrals were isolated from almost all of the other Wizard Realms (location played a large part in this isolation), until the Great Journey of the Salien in 5020 BCE. This isolation allowed the Astrals to develop along their own lines. One of the powers unique to the Astrals is Maru or the ability to communicate without words over long distances. (Humans would call this telecommunication.) The Astrals are the only Wizards who can Maru. (The Elegia of the Salien - Salien elves - can also Maru.)
The Astrals are wand wielders and have wand powers. In addition to Maru, Astrals are also adept at Ennustama (divination). They are probably the best ennustamas among the Seven Realms. The Astrals learned Parkour from their contacts with the Sabrils.
The Astrals live in Wizard communities spread throughout the continent.
